Daily Sports Pick ’Em 1/19 — Take Toledo in a bounceback spot
The MAC-leading Toledo Rockets look to rebound from a tough loss Tuesday when they host Central Michigan in a conference clash.
Despite a close defeat at the hands of Akron in overtime, Toledo still finds themselves tied with Bowling Green for the MAC lead. The Rockets are seeking their ninth victory in ten games and will try to improve to 7–1 in conference.
Toledo’s offense has been red hot in 2021. The Rockets currently rank 15th in the entire nation in offensive efficiency and 14th in 3-point percentage. Toledo has made at least 15 3-pointers in each of their last six games and have scored at least 70 points in 13 of their 15 games.
Marreon Jackson led Toledo with 24 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists in the game against Akron. Spencer Littleson finished with 21 points, while Setric Millner Jr. added 16 points as well.
Central Michigan has seen mixed results this season. The Chippewas are 6–7 following their second win against Eastern Michigan last Saturday. Like Toledo, Central Michigan is strong offensively. The Chippewas average 80.3 points per game and are a run-and-gun team year in and year out.
The problem for the Chippewas is on the defensive end. CMU is allowing 76.6 points a night and rank 304th in the country in defensive efficiency. They’ll also have to improve on the glass as they are allowing a 33.5 percent offensive rebounding rate to their opponents.
This is matchup that favors Toledo. Central Michigan will not be able to stop the fluent offensive attack of the Toledo Rockets. Central Michigan has struggled on the road this year outside of victories against lowly Eastern Michigan and Western Illinois, while Toledo has dominated on their home floor.
PICK: Toledo -14.5
